In September of 1983, Roger was working in the print shop at WCCO TV when a neighbor told him they were hiring workers at John Roberts. He came in to interview, and our CEO, Michael, hired him on the spot. The pressroom in those days was rolling day and night. He has stayed at JR for 40 years because there was never a reason to leave—he made a good living and liked the people he works with.
Roger lives in White Bear Township and has a lovely girlfriend, Dawn, and two daughters, one in North Carolina and one in Ladysmith, WI. Roger golfs every Monday for fun and loves to camp in his pop-up camper.
He’s still mulling his retirement timeline but is not planning to decamp to the Sunbelt. He loves winters in Minnesota. He bought a season pass to Christie Mountain in Bruce, WI, where he skis with his beloved granddaughter, Maria. When it’s 30 degrees outside, you’ll find Roger in his toasty warm garage “cooking venison backstraps” on a wood stove. This guy knows how to be happy.
Roger Neby is a valuable asset to John Roberts Company, and his contributions are greatly appreciated. He is a true professional and a role model for others. We are fortunate to have him as a part of our team! We wish Roger and his family a lifetime of happiness but are glad we're not parting ways yet!
