### National Peach Day

  

Did you know that peaches belong to the same family as roses? Both peaches and roses are part of the Rosaceae family. This family includes many flowering plants, and peaches are a deliciously edible member of this diverse botanical family.

 

Peaches are known for fuzziness, but not all are created equal. There are two main types: freestone and clingstone. Freestone peaches have flesh that easily separates from the pit or stone, making them famous for eating fresh and baking. On the other hand, clingstone peaches have flesh that clings tightly to the hole, making them ideal for canning and preserving. So, next time you bite into a peach, note whether it's a freestone or clingstone variety!
